To be eligible, patients must have a job or live in a household where at least one person works, have no vision insurance, have not had an eye exam in two years, and have a household income below an established level based on household size.  If eligible, patients will receive a free comprehensive eye exam from an optometrist.  The doctor may provide eyeglasses free of charge, but this is not guaranteed by the program.

Eye Care America offers a number of programs that provide exams and services for specific groups: seniors, diabetics, children, and those at particular risk for glaucoma.  Eye exams are covered, along with up to one year of treatment for any condition found at the exam, for eligible candidates.
